DENTAL BRACES AND ALIGNERS

Dental braces and aligners are orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth and correct bite issues.

• Braces consist of metal or ceramic brackets attached to the teeth, connected by wires. They gradually move the teeth into the desired position and are adjusted periodically by the orthodontist.
• Aligners are clear, removable trays custom-made to fit the patient’s teeth. Popular brands include Invisalign. They offer a more discreet option for teeth straightening.

They are often used to correct underbites, as well as malocclusions, overbites, open bites, gaps, deep bites, cross bites, crooked teeth, and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw. Braces can be either cosmetic or structural. Dental braces are often used in conjunction with other orthodontic appliances to help widen the palate or jaws and to otherwise assist in shaping the teeth and jaws.

There are 5 main types of braces available today:

Lingual braces.
Clear aligners or Invisalign.
